Mumbai: The High Court accepted Thackeray’s Shiv Sena group’s demand to file an amended petition in the wake of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s denial of permission sought for a Dussehra gathering at Shivaji Park.
The earlier petition sought an order to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation to decide on the permission application. Besides, permission was also sought to hold a gathering at Shivaji Park. Therefore, the court allowed the Thackeray group to file an amended petition.
The municipal corporation had opposed the Thackeray group’s demand for an amended petition, claiming that since we had rejected the application of the Thackeray group, their petition had no meaning. However, in the petition, the court has also demanded permission to hold a meeting at Shivaji Park, the lawyers of the Thackeray group pointed out to the court. A bench of Justice Ramesh Dhanuka and Justice Kamal Khata adjourned the case to Friday after allowing the Thackeray group to file an amended petition.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s group has filed a mediation petition opposing the Thackeray group’s plea on behalf of local MLA Sada Saravankar. Saravankar has demanded that the petition of the Thackeray group be dismissed, alleging that Uddhav Thackeray’s group is misleading the court by claiming that his Shiv Sena is real. It has been alleged in the petition that the Uddhav Thackeray group has concealed the fact that the dispute over which is the real Shiv Sena is going on in the Central Election Commission and the Supreme Court. In such a situation, Saravankar has claimed in the petition that if this court allows the Uddhav Thackeray group to hold a Dussehra gathering at Shivaji Park, then his group will be considered to be the real Shiv Sena. He has also demanded a stay on Shiv Sena’s plea till this dispute is over.
Most MLAs are with Shinde group and Shinde is our main leader. Therefore, he has claimed that his group is the real Shiv Sena and has submitted an application to the Municipal Corporation demanding permission for us to hold a Dussehra gathering at Shivaji Park. The petition has sought to allow its own application like every year.
Shiv Sena will hit the streets?
If Shivaji Park is not available for Dussehra gathering, Shiv Sena is ready to hit the streets. The Shiv Sena has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court for the demand to get Shivaji Park and a decision is expected on Friday. Shiv Sena spokesperson Adv. Anil Parab said on Thursday.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s group had submitted an application to the Municipal Corporation that Shivaji Park ground should be given to them for the meeting in order to confuse the Shiv Sena. Both the groups claimed for Shivaji Park, fearing law and order problem, and the municipal corporation rejected the application. Now the Shiv Sena has knocked the doors of the High Court. But if the court does not give an order to give Shivaji Park for Shiv Sena’s meeting, then Shiv Sena is ready to fight on the streets.
The court has so far ordered Shiv Sena to provide ground. We hope to get justice from the court. It is the tradition of Shiv Sena to hold Dussehra Mela at Shivaji Park. Therefore, we have not applied for any other ground, but the next stand will be decided after the court’s decision, explained Parab.
