North Bengal News Digital Desk. The central government has extended the period of free distribution of food grains under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana by another three months. For now, compatriots will receive free food grains until December. But as it was previously announced, that period is supposed to expire on September 30. In this situation, Saugata wrote to the Prime Minister and demanded an extension of the deadline. Saugata suggested that if for some reason it is not possible to supply these food grains completely free, then it should be supplied to the extent of the National Food Security Act. However, the Union Ministry of Food and Public Distribution recently announced that if the Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana continues beyond September, an additional Rs 90,000 crore will be spent from the exchequer. But finally the Center agreed to extend the scheme by three months.
