Kerala’s Pullampara is the country’s first digitally literate village panchayat, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced.SEDI News

Puber Kalam Webdesk. Pullampara in Kerala is the first fully digitally literate village panchayat in the country. This was announced by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at a function held at Mamdu near Venjarmudu on Wednesday. Pinarayi said that just as institutional education is necessary, so is being digitally literate to keep pace with today’s world, as Pullampara exemplifies. Pinarayi Vijayan also said that Kerala is literally leading the country in digitalization. The state government has made more than 800 government services available online, which can be fully utilized by digitally literate people. DG Pullampara project was launched on 15th August 2021 to impart digital education to the underprivileged sections of the panchayat society. The project was implemented with the help of volunteers from five engineering colleges, Kudumbashri units and other self-help groups.

Vijayan of Pinara also said. “After the completion of the project, internet services can be provided to the public at a nominal fee. Internet and other new technologies should be ready for full use,” the initiative was taken to make the whole of Kerala a knowledge city. Not only this, the Kerala government is also planning to launch public WiFi at 2,000 locations in the state to encourage internet usage.
