Shaheen Shah Afridi slams critics of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan as PAK beat ENG by 10 wicketsSEDI News

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan shared a record-breaking double-century opening stand as Pakistan beat England by 10 wickets on Thursday. This was also the second time that Pakistan managed to chase down the target in a T20I without losing a single wicket in the first match of the 2021 World Cup against India.

Babar’s 110 not out and Rizwan’s 88 would, for the time being, silence their heroes who had been vocal about their form during and after the Asia Cup. This innings will not only bring relief to countless Pakistan fans but also to their teammates.

One of his teammates, Shaheen Shah Afridi took a dig at Babar and Rizwan’s critics by posting a snarky tweet where he said, “I think it’s time to get rid of Kaptaan @babarazam258 and @iMRizwanPak. Those selfish players. Agar sahi se khelte match 15 over mein puri hojana chahaye tha. You took the last over chance. Let’s make this a movement. not? Totally proud of this amazing Pakistani team. (I think it’s time to get rid of captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Such selfish players. Had they played properly this run chase would have been in the 15th over. But they took it to the last over. Let’s make this a movement. Let’s make it, no? Proud of this amazing Pakistani team).

In the match, Babar and Rizwan blamed the aggressive batting against England as the visitors failed to grab their chances to break the stand.

Rizwan benefited from two late-offs before completing his half-century, but Babar hit 11 boundaries and five sixes against both pace and spin.

Babar and Rizwan’s previous record was Pakistan’s opening wicket of 197, which they set against South Africa at Centurion in 2021.

England won the opening match by six wickets.
