Hyderabad: Munugode Assembly seat by-election is going to spell doom for Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR)-led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government, Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party president Bandi Sanjay Kumar said on Thursday.
“KCR’s game is over and his shop will be closed soon,” Sanjay said while addressing a public meeting at the conclusion of the fourth leg of the Praja Sangram Yatra at Peda Amberpet in Hyderabad limits.
Stating that the BJP is building up for a showdown with the TRS, he said his party is ready to fight even if the TRS joins hands with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM).
“Now, the time has come for the people of Telangana to decide whether they want democratic rule or autocratic rule; government of the poor or feudal; And Ram Rajya or Ravana Rajya,” asked Sanjay.
He said that the four stages of the padayatra brought him closer to the people and he was deeply moved by the plight of the people. “I am going to start the fifth phase of the Praja Sangram Yatra from October 15,” he announced.
Sanjay declared that if the BJP comes to power, it will rename Ibrahimpatnam as “Veerapatnam” because of the bravery displayed by the people of the constituency.
He recalled that the BJP had been fighting the demand to officially celebrate September 17 as “Telangana Liberation Day” for many years.
Due to pressure from the BJP, the TRS was forced to celebrate the day, albeit in the name of “National Unity Day”. “The credit goes to the BJP for hoisting the national flag in the old city,” he said.
Sanjay said that state intelligence agencies have reported that BJP’s victory in the Munugode by-election is certain. “We are going to add one more “R” to our tally in the Assembly. Rajagopal Reddy is going to win the election hands down. KCR is aware of the result of the bypoll and that’s why, he is making all kinds of promises to cheat the SCs and STs,” he said. .
Stating that the SC had full faith in the BJP, Sanjay said that it was his party that installed Ambedkar and made 12 SC/ST MPs as Union ministers. “On the other hand, KCR has cheated Dalits and humiliated them. Does he have the courage to make a Dalit the Chief Minister? he asked.
The BJP president accused the Telangana Chief Minister of playing politics on ST reservation. “When we proposed the name of an ST woman for the presidential election, KCR made all efforts to defeat it,” he reminisced.
Sanjay refuted the TRS’ allegation that the BJP would scrap welfare schemes if it came to power. “BJP will never stop any scheme, whether it is introduced by TRS or Congress, if it really benefits the weaker sections. In fact, we will come out with more welfare schemes,” he asserted.
