New Delhi: UPI Payments: UPI is used in many functions today. But, to use this service, you have to enter your PIN and the payment is completed only after that. But, now the government has launched UPI Lite service to make this service more convenient. It is an on-device wallet facility, which allows users to make payments up to Rs 200 without using a UPI PIN. So let’s know the features and benefits of UPI Lite. Simply put, UPI Lite is an on-device wallet. To use it, customers have to deposit money from their bank account into the app’s wallet. Since it is an on-device wallet, users do not need internet for real-time payments. Also, there is no need to enter a PIN.

Transactions can be done offline through this service. If the debit payment is offline, internet is required to add money to the account. Soon NPCI will provide offline facility for both debit and credit.

What are the limitations of UPI Lite:

This service is designed for low value transactions and is capped at Rs.200. You don’t need a UPI PIN to make payments up to this level. You can maintain a balance of up to Rs 2,000 in the on-device wallet. Using it, users can pay unlimited times in a day.

Who can use UPI Lite?:

UPI Lite feature has been enabled on BHIM app. So far the list includes Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, Indian Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, Union Bank of India and Utkarsh Small Finance Bank, NPCI.

UPI Lite:How to add balance

Balance can be added to UPI Lite wallet only through online mode (with internet). In this, you will be able to add balance using Extra Factor Authentication (AFA) or UPI AutoPay. It is registered by the users online. If you ever disable UPI Lite, the remaining amount will be credited to your bank account. UPI Lite is made available to users to facilitate quick and easy payments.
