Sangli: Akhil Maharashtra Natyavidya Mandir Committee in Sangli has announced this year’s prestigious Natyacharya Vishnudas Bhave Award to Pune’s senior playwright, director, actor, screenwriter Satish Alekar.

Chairman of the Committee Dr. Sharad Karale recently announced this award in a press conference. Theater Day is celebrated on 5th November. On this occasion, the award will be given by senior director Dr. Jabbar Patel. The form of award is Gauravadak, Cash 25 thousand, Souvenir, Shawl, Shreefal. Vinayak Kelkar, Vilas Gupte, Megha Kelkar, Jagdish Karale, Anandrao Patil, Baldev Gawli, Principal Bhaskar Tamhankar, Vivek Deshpande, Bhalchandra Chitale were present on this occasion.

Dr. Karale said, since 1959, the committee has been awarding Vishnudas Bhave Gaurapadak every year to a person who has made a remarkable contribution in the field of theatre. Due to Corona, there was a break in the ceremony for two years. But now the government has canceled all restrictions; So this year this ceremony has been organized.
Akhil Maharashtra Natya Vidyamandir is an organization that has been working in the field of theater since 80 years. The award is given to Rangkarmis in memory of late playwright Vishnudas Bhave.

Painter Satish Alekar has contributed in various fields related to theatre. From 1973 to 1992, he held the responsibility of the manager of Theater Academy. Between 1996 and 2000, he served as the Head of the Department of Fine Arts Center at Pune University. He has also been appointed as a distinguished professor in Pune University since September 2013. He is the recipient of State Government Natvarya Prabhakar Panashikar Lifetime Achievement Award in the field of theater and other awards.
